Meaning

Climbing the ridge, you meet the wind off the West Sea, and the altar of piled stone stands alone beneath the sky.

A stone altar at the summit of Manisan on Ganghwa Island; tradition holds it as the place where Dangun offered sacrifice to heaven, and it endures as a symbolic place of rites to the sky.

The altar is enclosed by protective fencing; entry is restricted except on ceremonial days, and it is viewed from outside.
