The Ganges — From Its Birth in Ice to Its Union with the Sea

You follow one river from its birth, down its whole course, to the sea. From the ice below the Himalayan snow peaks where the Ganges first draws breath, to Rishikesh where the river catches its breath leaving the mountains, to Varanasi where life and death meet on the riverbank, and at last to the island where the river becomes one with the sea of the Bay of Bengal — you follow the water down through its whole life.
