Meaning

Mist drifts between the round thatched stone houses, and inside the low door of the pre-Romanesque church, an old lamp that has kept watch over pilgrims sways gently.

Tradition holds this as the first village on the mountain way into Galicia, where the church of Santa María la Real has welcomed pilgrims and the story of a Eucharistic miracle is told. Its Celtic thatched stone houses, the pallozas, keep the look of the old pilgrim road.
