Meaning
The granite hill is covered with a tide of white robes, and beneath the white pillar at its crest countless hands rise toward the sky.
Tradition holds this to be where the Prophet Muhammad gave his Farewell Sermon, and the standing (wuquf) at the heart of the Hajj takes place on this plain. So central is it that a saying holds, "The Hajj is Arafat."
