Meaning

Two spires rise like lacework into the pale sky, and beneath the star-shaped lantern tower, cool light settles into the nave.

Burgos Cathedral is honored as a masterwork of Spanish Gothic, begun in the thirteenth century and brought to completion over hundreds of years. Pilgrims on the Camino Francés have long passed through this city as they cross the Castilian plain, and the cathedral was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.
